SCC FFL Sports Marketing Competition – Individual Awards

Another amazing effort from all of our schools in SCC’s sports marketing fantasy football league this season. Overall, our participating schools (25 different schools representing 15 different states) showed a lot of creativity while demonstrating a great understanding of the sports business principles that provide the foundation of our curriculum programs. It is always rewarding to see how well students can apply some of the fundamental lessons to a project like this…

Congrats again to Carolyn Province’s class at Grapevine High School for winning our third annual competition. However, we would also like to recognize a few other classes for a job well done with some individual awards this season…

  • Best Overall Branding Strategy (for the second straight season): Orlando Ducks (Pine Island HS, Minnesota)

    The Orlando Ducks front office (Pine Island HS in Minnesota) took home the honors for best overall branding strategy. The attention to detail was superb, branding everything from helmets to cleats and socks, and offering several variations of uniforms including these “color rush” uniforms for “prime time” games

  • Best Sponsorship Programs: London Guards (Carl Sandburg HS, Illinois)

    To maximize franchise revenues, the London Guards sales staff (Carl Sandburg HS in Illinois) managed to secure sponsorship commitments for every home game this season

  • Best Community Relations Plan: San Antonio Roughriders (Grapevine HS / Texas)
  • Best Logo: Honolulu Surf (Vista Murrieta High School, California)

  • Best Fan Experience Strategies: Boise Spuds (Randolph High School, Wisconsin)
  • Best Digital Marketing Plan: Omaha Outlaws (Hinsdale Central, Illinois)

    The Omaha Outlaws (Hinsdale Central HS in Illinois) won this year’s award for best digital marketing strategy

    The Outlaws’ digital marketing plan also featured fun Snapchat filters to encourage fans to engage with the brand through its many social media platforms

  • Best Overall Marketing Plan: Louisville Legends (Blacksburg HS / Virginia)
  • Best Promotions Plan: Alabama Everglades (Montgomery County HS / Missouri)
  • Best Ticket Sales Strategy: San Antonio Outlaws (Crook County HS / Texas)
  • Best Stadium Design Plan (for the second season in a row): South Texas Wranglers (Richardson HS, Texas)

    The South Texas Wranglers front office chose to construct an actual model of a stadium, rather than a drawing or computer design. Look at that attention to detail!

  • Best Cause Marketing Program: San Diego Sharks (Atwater HS / California)
  • Best Promotional Giveaways: Anchorage Avatars (Waverly HS / New York)
  • Best Mascot (“Covert”): Wichita Stealth (Wichita East HS / Kansas)
  • Best Use of Social Media (for the second straight season): Toronto Tundra (Westosha Central, Wisconsin)
  • Best Concessions Plan: Honolulu Hurricanes (Guilderland HS, New York)
